متن کاملSimple Derivation of Dyadic Green Functions of a Simply Moving, Isotropic, Dielectric–magnetic Medium
Dyadic Green functions for time–harmonic fields in a homogeneous, isotropic, dielectric– magnetic medium, moving with constant velocity, are derived by first implementing a simple transformation and then using the dyadic Green functions available for uniaxial dielectric–magnetic mediums.
متن کاملEnhanced group velocity in metamaterials
The Bruggeman formalism is implemented to estimate the refractive index of an isotropic, dielectric, homogenized composite medium (HCM). Invoking the well–known Hashin– Shtrikman bounds, we demonstrate that the group velocity in certain HCMs can exceed the group velocities in their component materials. Such HCMs should therefore be considered as metamaterials. PACS numbers: 41.20.Jb, 42.25.Dd, ...
متن کاملThe Huygens principle for a uniaxial dielectric–magnetic medium with gyrotropic–like magnetoelectric properties
The dyadic Green functions for a uniaxial dielectric–magnetic medium, together with a reversible field transformation, were implemented to derive a formulation of the Huygens principle appropriate to a uniaxial dielectric–magnetic medium with gyrotropic–like magnetoelectric properties.
متن کاملTowards gravitationally assisted negative refraction of light by vacuum
Propagation of electromagnetic plane waves in some directions in gravitationally affected vacuum over limited ranges of spacetime can be such that the phase velocity vector casts a negative projection on the time–averaged Poynting vector. This conclusion suggests, inter alia, gravitationally assisted negative refraction by vacuum.
